The Apostle Paul gives us some specific guidelines in Philippians 1 as to the way all of us should live. It is a fact, our world would be in a different state in these last days if professors of the Faith had lived according to the standards set forth in the Holy Scriptures. What a thought…We Can Be World Changers!
Paul gives us three challenges in verses 27 and 28 in Philippians 1 that should motivate us to be all that we should be where God has planted us and in the ministry He has given to us. The Holy Spirit will guide us and help us to measure up to the standard for all Christians everywhere.

Paul gives us three challenges in verses 27 and 28 in Philippians 1 that should motivate us to be all that we should be where God has planted us and in the ministry He has given to us. The Holy Spirit will guide us and help us to measure up to the standard for all Christians everywhere.
WE SHOULD LIVE STEADFASTLY
Paul says in verse 27 to “stand fast in one spirit.” When we are standing fast in one spirit and in the power of the Holy Spirit, we will be dependable. That is the opposite of fickle. Our Lord wants us to be Constant in season and out of season, whether the challenge we face is favorable or unfavorable. Never wavering and reliable Christians down through History have been the ones that have made the greatest impact for Christ and His Church.WE SHOULD LIVE UNITEDLY
Paul says in verse 27 we should be “Striving together for the faith of the gospel.” It is a wonderful thing when the family of God works and ministers together in harmony. It brings glory to our Lord and to His Kingdom on earth. On the other hand, division and strife dishonors Him and the cause of Christ. Through the years I have had to “pick up the pieces” and try to mend fences because one person, or even a group, refused to labor and minister in harmony with others in God’s family of believers. There is no doubt all of us will not always agree, but we absolutely can disagree agreeably. It just might be up to you to help make it happen. I am sure our Lord would be pleased.WE SHOULD LIVE FEARLESSLY
Paul says in verse 28 that we should “not in any way be terrified by your adversaries.” The work of Christ on earth and in His Church exists today because people fought for the faith. Struggle and persecution could not scare them away from taking a stand. Discouragement never caused them to surrender in defeat. They never gave up and abandoned hope. That places the challenge at the “front door” of our Christian profession! The big question is this…are we willing to pay the price to pass on to those that are coming behind what we have enjoyed as followers of Christ up to this present time? Our adversary, the devil, is having a hey day with preachers, gospel singers, deacons and leaders in the Church of today. We are quickly coming to the end of the age. May God help us to finish well and cross the finish line in glorious victory!Charles Kirby
