GREETINGS MEMBERS:
Thanks to the many of you who attended our meeting this week. Those who were unable to attend truly missed a treat. We had great meetings, delicious food, unbelievable fellowship, and entertained with truly southern gospel music by Gerald Williams and the Melody Boys Quartet. We were also treated by the Tribute Quartet, a new group presented by the Beckie Simmons Agency; two groups with excellent voices and talent.
Exciting things continue to happen for SGPA. Jim Cumbee of Singing News announced during his motivational speech that SGPA would now be a part of the NQC Awards.
We will now honor the Promoter of The Year Award. SGPA members will select that promoter by voting for one of the following:
Bill Bailey: Bill Bailey Concerts - Oneco, FL
Twila Rohrer: Garden Spot Promotions - Lititz, PA
Mel Riegsecker: Blue Gate Theater - Shipshewana, IN
E-mail your choice to solidrocktalent@charter.net, or you may mail your vote to the above address. This is an honor to finally be recognized as a vital part of our industry.
Bill Hefner, retired U.S. Congressman/North Carolina and original owner of The Harvesters Quartet, offered several humorous quips and a rendition of “Glory Road” with the Melody Boys.
Officers were elected for the coming year. The current officers will remain another year, there were no changes.
Kenneth Wilson was named Legal Counsel. Paul Shannon was appointed Parliamentarian.
It was decided at the meeting that we will again have the cruise at NQC on Saturday. And, it will again be free to SGPA members. The time will be announced when confirmed.
Thanks to all who participated in making our event so special. We appreciate all of you.
I invite you to visit our website at www.sgpromoters.com. UNITED WE STAND!
